Interview with Rod, Saturna's bassist.

-Hi Rod! The first question; can you tell us about the beginnings of Saturna?
-Hi! After I ended in my old band Ätman Acron, I wanted to still doing music and composing more songs, without an specific style of music. After I get a couple of ideas I meet a couple of musics that I played with them before, to start to play my music. As the time pass, we decided that we had to working in this project, so finally we did a solid band.

-Which is the concept behind Saturna?
-The idea of Saturna is to put music over any other thing, without a specific style, always with the base of rock music. When we have to compose music, we use all our influences of our favorite music, and we do it like a natural process.


-I know that the band recently has a couple of changes. Who are the actual members of the band?
-You’re right,  our previous drummer is no longer playing with us. These are the actual members of the band: Patrick on voice/lyrics, Aureli and Henry on guitars and me on bass guitar. For a few months Alex (Prisma Circus drummer) played with us in our rehearsals and helped to us to record a few songs, but now we’re looking for a new drummer.

-Sincerely, I really love your lyrics. Which influences did you take when you wrote them?
-The merit of this is Patrick, who has had total creative freedom. His influences are his real life and his own experiences, and of course he took influences of the books he read about the karma, occultism and hermetic doctrine.

-Your album has a couple of different styles.  All the members of the band have the same music taste? Which are your influences?
-Actually all the band have varied tastes. Me and Patrick have the same musical taste, we really love the heavy sound of 70’s bands like Black Sabbath, Pentagram, Blue Cheer…  Henry loves the classic Hard Rock like Led Zeppelin, and Aureli loves all kind of blues music, and he’s a great fan of Hendrix too.


-Where did you recorded/produced the album?
-We recorded the album at “Álamo Estudio” in Barcelona with Wero (“The Eyes” guitarist), and it was mastered by Yves Roussel.


-Which are the differences between Saturna in live and Saturna in studio?
-The people says that the principal difference is in the sound of our live performances. They say we have a really “overwhelming” sound, this why sometimes we’ve been classified as a doom / stoner band.

-Before Saturna, which bands/projects you (The whole band) had?
-Me and Patrick were in Ätman Acron (Doom band), and we released  an EP with Doomentia Records. Aureli was playing in Rosebud (Blues), with Joaquín and Alex of Prisma Circus. We had a couple more of bands/projects, but these are our most relevant bands.

-Which future plans do you have? Are you working in new songs?
-Our goal is to play in live as much as possible and edit more records as we composing more songs. At the moment, we recorded three new songs, that surely will appear in our next LP. And of course, now we’re working in some more stuff.



-Which are your next shows?
-We have two dates in Barcelona: 5 of October we gonna play with Plomo (Barcelona) at Sala BeGood, and the 28 of November we gonna play with Truckfighters (Sweden) at Sala RockSound. We have more dates to be confirmed.


-Where can we get your album?

Entrevista con Rod, bajista de Saturna.

-Hola Rodrigo! Primero de todo, háblanos un poco sobre los inicios de Saturna. ¿De donde nace la idea de crear esta banda?
¡Hola! Tras finalizar mi etapa en Ätman Acron, mi anterior banda, seguía teniendo deseos de componer y seguir tocando, esta vez sin centrarme en un estilo tan concreto. Después de haber acumulado unas cuantas ideas decidí reunirme con otros músicos con los cuales ya había tocado con anterioridad, para dar forma a los temas. A medida que avanzaban los temas cada vez estábamos más convencidos del proyecto, así que decidimos formar una banda estable.

-¿Y  cual es el concepto que hay detrás de Saturna?
La idea de Saturna es poner la música por encima de todo sin centrarnos en un estilo demasiado concreto, siempre teniendo como base el rock y sus diversas vertientes. En el momento de componer no buscamos algo en particular, simplemente nos basamos en nuestras influencias y dejamos que surjan los temas de manera natural.

-Tengo entendido que habéis tenido algún que otro cambio en vuestra formación. ¿Quienes sois en la banda actualmente?
Efectivamente, nuestro anterior batería ya no está tocando con nosotros. Actualmente Saturna se compone: Patrick a la voz, Aureli y Henry a las guitarras y el yo al bajo. Durante unos meses Alex (Prisma Circus) nos ha ayudado en algunos ensayos y en la grabación de unos temas, pero ahora estamos buscando un batería definitivo.

-Sinceramente, me encantan vuestras letras. ¿Qué influencias habéis tomado para escribirlas?
El mérito de las letras es de Patrick, quien ha tenido total libertad creativa. Estas se basan en sus experiencias personales y en sus lecturas, que giran entorno a la búsqueda del karma, el ocultismo y la doctrina hermética.

-En vuestro disco noto cierta mezcla de estilos ¿Compartís los mismos gustos musicales? ¿Qué influencias tenéis?
La verdad es que tenemos gustos muy variados. Se podría decir que los gustos de Patrick y los míos se asemejan bastante, nos decantamos más por el sonido pesado de las bandas de los 70 como Black Sabbath, Pentagram, Blue Cheer. A Henry le gusta más el Hard Rock del estilo Led Zeppelin. En cuanto al gusto de Aureli, está basado en el Blues en general y a su vez es muy amante de Hendrix.

-¿Dónde habéis grabado/producido el álbum?
El disco lo grabamos en Álamo Estudio, en Barcelona, con Wero (guitarra de The Eyes). Posteriormente fue masterizado por Yves Roussel.

-¿Qué diferencias hay entre los Saturna del disco y los Saturna en directo? ¿En que se diferencian?
Si me baso en los comentarios que he recibido del público que ha asistido a los conciertos de Saturna diría que la principal diferencia reside en el sonido del directo. Este es más contundente, por lo que muchos nos han clasificado como banda de doom/stoner.

-En estos últimos años estamos viendo como en España están naciendo bandas de Rock Psicodélico, Hard Rock setentero (Retro Rock en definitiva) de gran calidad musical, y Catalunya está siendo uno de los sitios que más bandas aporta a estos géneros. Que otros grupos a parte de Saturna destacarías de la zona catalana?
Es cierto que están aumentando en número y calidad las bandas de nuestro terriotorio. Algunas de las que yo destacaría serían Cuzo, Prisma Circus, Plomo, las cuales tienen un estilo similar al de los años 70 pero con un sonido renovado, además de tener un buen directo.

-¿Antes de Saturna qué otras bandas/proyectos teníais?
Patrick y yo estábamos en Ätman Acron (banda de doom), con la cual editamos un EP con Doomentia Records. Aureli estuvo tocando en Rosebud (blues), junto a Joaquín y Alex de Prisma Circus. Todos nosotros estuvimos en más grupos, pero los citados fueron los de más relevancia.

-¿Qué proyecto de futuro tenéis? ¿Estáis componiendo temas nuevos?
Nuestro objetivo es el de tocar en directo lo máximo posible y editar más discos conforme vayamos componiendo más temas. De momento hemos grabado tres canciones nuevas que lo más seguro es que formen parte del próximo LP. Por el momento seguimos en la labor de la composición de nuevo material.

-¿Cuáles son vuestros próximos conciertos?
Tenemos dos fechas en Barcelona: el 5 de octubre tocaremos junto a Plomo (Barcelona) en la sala BeGood y el 28 de noviembre junto a Truckfighters (Suecia) en la sala Rock Sound. Tenemos más fechas todavía pendientes por confirmar.

Interview with Joaquín Escudero, bassist of Prisma Circus

Recently, Sounds from Space had the pleasure to interview Joaquín Escudero, bassist and vocalist of Prisma Circus.

-Although you guys are playing as Prisma Circus less than a year,  lots of people are talkin' about the band, and not only in Spain, Europe and USA looks like they like your stuff too. What do you think about the reaction of all these people?
-Hello Javi! The reaction of the people is mostly good, and people from around the world looks very interested in our band. As you say, people from Spain, Europe, USA asked about the release of the EP. Looks like all the people who like this kind of music really enjoyed our EP, and we’re very grateful for this.

-And what about the reaction of the audience in your live performances?

-Oh, we really have fun in our performances, and wish we could play in live every day!
Maybe the people still don’t know us very much, and we play a lot of songs that we didn’t recorded yet… But looks like the people enjoy so much our performances. More than we expected!

-How do you describe your live performances?
-I’m not sure how to describe it, cause I’m very concéntrate while I’m playing. Psych Hard Rock, with a lot of solos, rhythm changes, powerful drums…

-And what does Prisma Circus different from the other band of the same genre?
-Hahaha, I don’t know, that’s a hard question! Sorry, I don’t know the answer. I think is something I wouldn´t say.

-Tell us about the influences of the band.

-We heard and like so much the psych blues rock of the 60’s and the 70’s, of band from England, USA, Scandinavia, Spanish, and personally Argentinian too (Pappo, Spinetta, etc..!!)
There’s a lot of bands that the people must hear, and all these bands are really important for the sound of Prisma Circus.

-For the recording of the three first songs of the EP, you get help of three gutiarist; Jordi Rodríguez, Aureli Rubio (Guitarist of Saturna) and Oscar García (Present guitarist of the band). So, the compositions of these three songs (The Great Car, Paradox & The Light) was made by you (Joaquín) and Alex (Drummer). That’s right?
-That’s right. And we added a new track fro the EP, “The Genius”, that we recorded a few months later, with Oscar entirely adapted in our band.

-So, how was the insertion of Oscar to the band?
-Oscar played with us in a old Project the we had, so we already know him. We needed to add some guitar tracks in our song, specially the solos. Oscar learned the song “Paradox” and he recorded the track without playing with the rhythm section before. The final product was amazing, and we talked about his insertion to our band before we recorded the songs.

-Before Prisma Circus, you and Alex had a band called “Rosebud”. Talk us about this band, do you have something recorded?
- Rosebud was a Blues Rock trio with a lot of improvisations in the live performances.
There’s a Facebook and MySpace profile where you can hear some suff. We self-recorded a CD with 7 songs. And we still have some copies for sell… hahaha
 
-Which is the evolution between “Rosebud” and “Prisma Circus”?
-Well, in this question I’ll answer my own opinion. Before I played with Rosebud, I was in a Hard Rock band called AXSJ (You can find it in MySpace too) who evolved in a band with more influences from the psych/progressive rock. This was the reason that made me studied music, and studying I meet Aureli and Alex. We mostly studied jazz, and maybe “Rosebud” have this “soft sound”, and these typical arrangements from the Jazz and the Chicago blues of the 50’s (Melody-Solo-Melody). But definitely the jazz wasn’t my cup of tea. We learned some actual bands who plays with the typical sound of Psych Rock of the 60’s and the 70’s, and definitely this was a great motivation for us.

Evolution? I don’t wanna call it evolution… I think it was more like a trip. I learned a lot of things in “Rosebud”, especially from Aureli. He’s an awesome guitarist, and you know it only see him holding a guitar. Sadly, he don’t like so much the psychedelia… hahaha. And this was the born of “Prisma Circus”. I guess now the music is more important than before for us, and we are better musicians too, but I don’t wanna call it evolution. Maybe a change.

Joaquin, Oscar y Alex.

-You’ll realease the firt EP of the band in a few days. Talk us about it.
-The EP will see the light the 27 or 28 of June, in vinyl format of 12” (45rpm). The artwork was made by our buddy Jalón de Aquiles. The EP includes the songs “The Great Car”, “Paradox”, “The Light” and the bonus track “The Genius”, that we recorded 2 or 3 months ago. We self-
edited the album in collaboration with Odio Sonoro and Radix Records (Thanks to Jose and Manu). Also, Nasoni Records from Germany will edit our EP in a “LP-Split” with another Stoner/Psych Rock band called “Nomega” from Timisoara, Romania, with an artwork made by Jalón de Aquiles too.

-Maybe it’s very soon for talk about it, but….you think it’s possible to release an EP soon?
-We are working on it with, and we are composing more songs for record in a studio. Sure we’ll record our first LP soon…!

-When will be the next performance?
-We gonna play at sala Rocksound in Barcelona the next month (28 of July) with Blues Pills.

-When you gonna play in the rest of the Europe?
-Maybe we’ll do a Spanish and European tour in the autumn, but it’s still very soon to confirm it. Record the LP and do these tour are our main objective.

Recientemente, Sounds from Space ha tenido el placer de entrevistar a Joaquín Escudero, bajista y vocalista de la banda Prisma Circus.

-A pesar del poco tiempo que lleváis tocando como Prisma Circus, estáis en boca de mucha gente, y no estamos hablando solo de España, si no de todo el mundo. ¿Qué os ha parecido la reacción de la gente ante vuestros temas?
-Buenas Javi. En general la reacción ha sido buena, y gente de distintas partes parece interesada en nuestra banda…. gente de España, gente distintas partes de Europa, incluso gente de Estados Unidos pregunta por la fecha de salida del EP. No es  que sean multitudes pero parece toda gente que le gusta y conoce este rollo, y eso nos hace estar muy agradecidos.

-¿Y qué tal ha sido la reacción del público en el directo?
-Pues nosotros nos lo pasamos muy bien en directo, si fuera por nosotros tocaríamos casi cada dia. La gente quizás no nos conozca mucho aún, y el hecho de que toquemos muchos temas aún no grabados… pero creo que la respuesta en general ha sido muy buena, mucho mejor de lo que esperábamos.

-¿Qué se puede encontrar alguien que acude a una de vuestras actuaciones y que jamás os había escuchado antes? ¿Cómo lo describirías?
-No podría describirlo demasiado, puesto que estoy en el escenario muy metido en ello. Hard Rock Psicodélico, muchos solos, cambios de ritmo, baterías potentes…

- ¿Y qué es lo que hace a Prisma Circus diferente de las demás bandas del genero?
- Jajaja, pues no sé, que la formamos nosotros? Perdona no sé que responder, creo que eso es algo no debo decir yo.

-¿Qué influencias tomáis a la hora de componer?

- Pues hemos escuchado y gustamos mucho del blues rock psicodélico de los 60-70’s, tanto inglés, estadounidense, escandinavo, europeo, español y personalmente también argentino (grandes Pappo, Spinetta y cia!!!) Hay muchísimas bandas que merece la pena escuchar y todas ellas constituyen una gran base de lenguaje, que si lo asimilas y lo usas, mezclado con tus experiencias, da como resultado en nuestro caso esto que hacemos. Además creo que uno no decide componer un tema, sino que le sale. En mi caso por lo menos, a  veces leo algo, miro una película o lo que sea que me llegue… y así empieza la composición de un nuevo tema.

-Para la grabación de los tres primeros temas del EP contasteis con la ayuda de tres guitarristas; Jordi Rodríguez, Aureli Rubio (Guitarrista de Saturna) y Oscar García (Actual guitarrista de la banda). Podemos deducir que las composiciones de estas tres canciones (The Great Car, Paradox, The Light) corrieron a cargo de ti (Joaquín) y de Alex (Batería), ¿Es así?
- Así es. Además como bonus track incluiremos “the genius”, que grabamos meses más tarde, ya con Oscar totalmente adaptado a la banda.

- ¿Entonces, cómo fue la incursión de Oscar a la banda?
- Oscar había tocado con nosotros antes en un proyecto que nunca fructificó y ya nos conocíamos. Nos faltaban por grabar algunas pista de guitarra, sobretodo los solos. Oscar se aprendió el tema Paradox y lo grabó entero, sin haber ensayado antes con sección rítmica. En realidad ya sabíamos que lo haría bien, y ya antes le habíamos comentado que se uniera a la banda. Después de grabar fue obvio.

-Antes de Prisma Circus, tú y Alex teníais otra banda llamada “Rosebud”. Háblanos un poco de ella. ¿Tenéis algo editado o grabado?
- Rosebud éramos un trío de blues rock orientado hacia la improvisación en directo. Hay páginas en Facebook y Myspace donde se pueden escuchar algunos temas. Auto-editamos una maqueta-disco de 7 temas, en formato cd. Todavía quedan copias por vender jajaja… 

-¿Y qué evolución crees que ha habido entre “Rosebud” y “Prisma Circus”?
-Bueno en este aspecto solo puedo dar mi opinión mas personal. Yo antes de Rosebud tocaba en una banda de hard rock (AXSJ se puede encontrar en myspace también) que evolucionó hacia algo más psyche y progressivo. A partir de ahí me interesé más por aprender música y estudiando es donde nos conocimos con Aureli y Alex. En aquel entonces nosotros estudiábamos mas jazz que nada, y Rosebud quizás tenga ese toque más suave a nivel de sonido, y esas estructuras melodía-solos-melodía, tan típicas del jazz y el blues Chicago de los 50… En realidad tocar jazz nunca me motivó, a mí por lo menos. Descubrimos varias bandas actuales que tocan utilizando el lenguaje y sonido del rock psicodélico de los 60-70’s, y creo que eso fue si una motivación para nosotros, aunque Alex ya conocía bandas como Earthless desde su adolescencia…

Evolución? No sé si lo llamaría así… Yo creo que ha sido como un viaje de ida y vuelta. Aprendí muchísimas cosas con Rosebud, especialmente de Aureli, una persona que con tan solo viéndole sujetar una guitarra y observarla… con tan solo eso sabes que es un guitarrista excepcional. Lamentablemente no estaba por la psicodelia jajaja… y ahí empezó Prisma Circus. Supongo que ahora vamos mas en serio y hemos mejorado como músicos, pero no lo llamaría evolución. Quizás cambio.

-Estamos a menos de un mes para el lanzamiento de vuestro disco en formato físico. Háblanos un poco sobre él.
- Podemos anunciar que el EP nos llegará (al fin) el 27 de 28 de Junio, formato vinilo 12 “ 45 rpm. El artwork ha ido a cargo de nuestro amigo y compañero Jalón de Aquiles (http://enjalonate.blogspot.com.es). El disco incluye los temas “The Great Car”, “Paradox”, “The Light” y como bonus track de última hora “the genius”, un tema que grabamos hará 2 o 3 meses, y que inicialmente no estaba previsto incluir. Auto-editamos con colaboración de OdioSonoro y Radix Records (gracias a Jose y Manu). Además Nasoni Records de Alemania editará nuestro EP en un Split LP compartido con la banda de stoner psyche Nomega, de Timisoara, Rumania, en formato Vinilo 12” 33 rpm, con nuevo artwork a cargo de, cómo no, Xavier Jalón.

-Quizás sea demasiado pronto para hacer esta pregunta, pero… ¿crees que es posible el lanzamiento de un LP?
-  Estamos trabajando ya en la maquetación de nuevo material para llevar a grabar al estudio. Posiblemente acabe siendo nuestro primer LP.

-¿Para cuando tenéis la próxima actuación en directo?
- Estaremos en la sala Rocksound de Barcelona el próximo Sábado 28 de Julio junto a Blues Pills, que estarán de gira por la Península. De momento no hay ninguna otra fecha.

-¿Queda mucho para ver a Prisma Circus tocar en directo por el resto de Europa?
- Quizás una gira española y europea en otoño, pero aún es pronto. Grabar un disco y hacer estas giras son nuestros principales objetivos ahora mismo.

Recently we were at the Radio Moscow and Prisma Circus gig in Barcelona (Click here if you missed the concert review), and Parker Griggs, guitarist and leader of Radio Moscow, give us that interview for the blog "Sounds From Space".

-In my opinion, in each album we can hear a big evolution of sounds, compositions and arrangements. For exemple, “The Great Scape of Leslie Magnafuzz” sounds more mature than the two first albums. Do you think this was the definitive step to be one of the best actual rock bands?
-We try to improve in each album, and I think we’re growing as musicians too, so this is why we sound a little better in every step we take.

- When someone hear any Radio Moscow album, he could find a lot of sounds of seventies underground bands like Granicus, Sir Lord Baltimore, Samuel Prody…
Do you think your music have a great influence from this kind of bands?
-Yes! We love that kind of stuff of 60’s and 70’s rock, and we have a lot of influences from them!

Parker Griggs

-Which others psych rock bands do you like?
-Really like Randy Holden, “Population II” is a great album. And more bands like Amon Düül II, Morgen, Blues Creation…

-Yeah, Blues Creation! Really love them! In my opinion their best album is “Carmen Maki”, which is your favourite?
-I personally prefer “Demon & Eleven Children” more than the other albums. It’s really awesome!

-What do you think about the Spanish fans? Which are the differences between they and the rest of the world?
-they’re pretty rad! They always turns crazy in our gigs!



-Which is the strangest place you´ve ever played?¿
-oh…hmmm… let me think…

-maybe like a boat the past week?
-Yeah, the boat was awesome! We played in a wrestling ring too!

-Really? Haha! How was the sound of the gig in that wrestling ring?
-The sound was ok, but us and the amps were jumping during the concert. It was very crazy!

-Recently Radio Moscow did a tour with Graveyard. Which anecdotes or stories did happen? Sure It happened something funny or interesting!
-We had a great party time with they and the fans. At the beginning of the tour Rikard Edlund removed my stitches. Definitely not a doctor, so I was a little scared. We did some great jams together too, and it was fucking awesome. Really cool guys!

Parker, Billy and Lonnie.

-How did you meet Lonnie and Billy?
-Billy was in Red Octopus, a San Diego band. Radio Moscow play with them, and I think I meet him in a party after the concert. And Lonnie was in Red Dog Revival, a psychedelic rock band. I called them cause I needed musicians who were comfort playing in that style, and they really save the tour!


-Which plans have Radio Moscow before the end of the year?
-Probably do a half album, I’m thinking on working in a few songs when I go home. Do some American tours… and hopefully we’ll come back here again!

Recientemente estuvimos en el concierto que ofrecieron Radio Moscow junto con los Prisma Circus en Barcelona (Haz click aquí si te perdiste la crónica). Allí habíamos quedado con Parker Griggs (Guitarrista y lider de la banda Radio Moscow) que nos concedió esta entrevista para el blog "Sounds from Space":

-En mi opinion, yo diría que en cada album podemos oir una evolución respecto al sonido, composición y arreglos. Por ejemplo, “The Great Escape of Leslie Magnafuzz”, suena mucho más maduro y con un estilo más propio que en los otros dos anteriores. ¿Crees que ha sido el paso definitivo para ser una de las mejores bandas de rock de la actualidad?
-Intentamos hacerlo mejor en cada álbum, y creo que estamos creciendo como músicos, quizás esa sea la razón por la que sonamos mejor a cada paso que damos y vamos sonando mucho mejor.

-Cuando alguien escucha algún album de Radio Moscow, puede encontrar un monton sonidos de bandas míticas del underground setentero como Granicus, Sir Lord Baltimore, Samuel Prody…
¿Crees que vuestra música tiene una gran influencia de este tipo de bandas?
-Por supuesto! Nos encanta este tipo de rock psicodélico setentero, y tenemos muchas influencias de ellos en nuestro sonido.

Parker Griggs

-Aparte de las mencionadas, ¿Qué otras bandas de Rock Psicodélico te gustan?
-Me encanta Randy Holden, el álbum “Population II” es magnífico. También me gusta mucho Amon Düül II, Morgen, Blues Creation…

-¡Yeah! ¡Blues Creation! Me encantan! En mi opinion, el album con “Carmen Maki” es el mejor, a pesar de estar muy infravalorado. ¿Cuál es tu favorito?
-Yo me quedaría con “Demon & Eleven Children”, me gusta más que los otros discos. Es un disco buenísimo!




-¿Que opinas del público español? Qué diferencias hay entre ellos y el resto del mundo?
-Son un público cojonudo! Siempre que tocamos aquí se vuelven locos en nuestros conciertos!

-Cuál es el sitio más raro en el que has tocado?
-Oh… hmmm… déjame pensar…

-Quizás en un barco, como la semana pasada?
- Si, lo del barco mola! Hemos tocado en un cuadrilátero de “Lucha Libre” también!

 -¿Enserio? (Risas) ¿Y como era la acústica de ese sitio?
-El sonido era bueno, el problema era que mientras tocábamos las vibraciones del sonido hacían que todo se moviera, y tantos nosotros como los amplificadores botábamos mientras tocábamos. Fue algo muy loco!

-Recientemente (Concretamente durante el mes de Enero), Radio Moscow estuvo de gira por EEUU con Graveyard. ¿Qué anecdotas o historias peudes contarnos?
¡Seguro que pasó algo divertido o interesante!

-Lo hemos pasado muy bien, montando fiestas con ellos y con los fans. Al principio del tour, Rikard Edlund me quitó los puntos del golpe en mi frente. Por supuesto, el no es un medico, asi que estaba un poco asustado! También hemos hecho alguna Jam que otra, y lo pasabamos de puta madre. Son unos tíos cojonudos!

-Cuéntame, ¿como conociste a Lonnie y Billy?

Parker, Billy and Lonnie.

-Billy tocaba en una banda de San Diego llamada “Red Octopus”. Radio Moscow tocó con ellos, y lo conocí en la fiesta de después del concierto. Y Lonnie tocaba en una banda de rock psicodélico llama “Red Dog Revival”. Los llamé a ellos porque necesitaba a músico que conocieran este género y se sentaran agusto tocando. Salvaron el tour!



-¿Qué planes tiene Radio Moscow para antes de que acabe el año?
-Probablemente haremos medio album, estoy pensando en trabajar en un par de canciones cuando vuelva a casa. Haremos algún tour por América… Y esperemos volver aquí de Nuevo también!!!

Radio Moscow + Prisma Circus review of the gig at sala Rocksound (Barcelona) 18 April 2012

Last week, wednesday 18, was the first of five gigs in Spain of Radio Moscow in their European tour 2012. It was in Barcelona, and Prisma Circus was the band chosed for open that gig.

I had more forward to see Prisma Circus than Radio Moscow, cause I only heard a few songs they made for the EP they’re gonna release soon. I was expecting their performance, intrigued about their sound in live. I was in the sound check with them, and the sound totally blow my mind. Only one sentence could describe their live performance:
Loud, very loud. They’re louder  than Blue Cheer, who were louder than God.
What a blast performance! Sadly they only played 40 minutes, but they were totally dynamics and played 8 songs. I will highlight the songs "Paradox", "The Great Car" and "Napalm", this last song isn't still available to hear. That song, is a powerful instrumental very well played for all the musicians in each instrument, sure it'll be one of their best songs.

As I said a few months ago, soon they'll be a great band, and sure they'll touring in the rest of Spain and Europe. Sincerely, they are great musicians who have a blast and powerful live performance as I have rarely seen.

ready for blow away our minds. What could we say about them? It’s totally amazing, Parker is an awesome musician, who is growing in each live performance, and the  live sound of the band have an incredible quality. The only bad thing was the sound of the bass, very low in my opinion and needed about a overdrive pedal to have more presence in the rhythm section. Either  way, the new line-up is really great and they're a great musicians too. It's amazing the connection between them in less than 4 months they’re playing together.
It's hard to highlight any song, because the setlist was really incredible.
As expected, "Broke Down" and "The Escape" were two of the best songs of the show, with a powerful performance and a great work in the rhythm section too. But in my opinion, "Little Eyes" and "Insideout", both from the new album, were the best songs of that night.
Their last song was "250 miles", with a crazy performance of all the musicians.



When the gig ended, and when we thought that anything could be better than what happened this night, the members of Prisma Circus, Radio Moscow, some friends and me went to the rehearsal place of Prisma Circus for a crazy and acid Jam Session, who didn't ended til the first rays of sun appeared.

Radio Moscow + Prisma Circus review del concierto en la Sala Rocksound (Barcelona) el 18-04-2012

El miércoles 18 de Abril fue la fecha que eligieron Radio Moscow para inciar en Barcelona, el primer concierto de los cinco que ofrecieron en su paso por España en esta gira Europea.
Los encargados de abrir para ellos serían los Prisma Circus, una banda de la que no hace mucho hablamos de ella en este mismo blog.



La verdad es que me atraía más la idea de ver a Prisma Circus que a Radio Moscow, pues de ellos solo he escuchado los temas que tienen preparados para el EP. Desconocía como podían sonar en directo, pero ya en la prueba de sonido que hicieron antes del concierto pude ver de que palo irían.
Solo se me ocurre una frase para describir el directo de la banda:
Loud, very loud. They’re louder  than Blue Cheer, who were louder than God.
Lástima que solo tocaron algo más de 40 minutos, pero fueron totalmente dinámicos e hicieron un repertorio de 8 canciones, entre los cuales destacaría los temas Paradox, The Great Car, y Napalm. Sobre todo este último. Se trata de una increíble instrumental con muchísima energía y muy rica musicalmente, en la que destacan todos los componentes del grupo por la gran técnica que poseen en sus respectivos instrumentos. El tema aún no se puede escuchar en ningún lado, pero sin duda será de los mejores temas de la banda, algo difícil debido a la calidad que tienen en el repertorio.
Como ya dije en su día, es una banda que dará que hablar, y que seguro que muy pronto podremos estar viendo girar por el resto de España y en Europa.
Sinceramente, tienen un directo explosivo y con muchísima energía, aderezado con unos músicos de alto nivel musical, algo no muy abundante en estos tiempos.



Con el subidón de haber presenciado el poderoso directo de los Prisma Circus, llego el turno de que Radio Moscow subieran al escenario.
¿Qué se puede decir de ellos que no se haya dicho antes? Es algo totalmente increíble. El nivel como músico de Parker es inalcanzable, y el directo de la banda tiene una potencia y una calidad enorme. Si bien, lo único que quizás falla es en la sección rítmica, en la que se podría añadir algún tipo de overdrive al sonido del bajo para que no se notase tanto la ausencia de una guitarra rítmica.

Igualmente, la nueva formación es francamente buena, y la calidad de los músicos es también muy alta. Llama la atención la compenetración que hay entre ellos en tan poco tiempo.
Es difícil destacara algún tema, pues tienen un repertorio increíble.
Como es de esperar, “Broke Down” y “The Escape” fueron dos de los mejores temas de la noche, con muchísima energía y una gran compenetración en la sección rítmica, aunque yo me quedaría con dos temas de su nuevo álbum, “Little Eyes” e “Insideout”, que en mi opinión fueron los mejores temas de la noche.
Cerraron con el tema “250 Miles Away”, en el que fue la locura total y los tres miembros de la banda se lucieron.



Acabado el concierto y cuando creíamos que ya nada podia superar lo acontecido a esas últimas horas, los miembros de Prisma Circus, Radio Moscow, varios amigos y servidor fuimos hasta el local de ensayo de la banda catalana para hacer una Jam Session muy ácida que no acabó hasta que salieron los primeros rayos de sol de la mañana siguiente.
